Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some frequently asked questions. If, after reading,  you’re still left scratching your head, please drop us a message by phone, email or carrier haggis, we want to ensure Your Adventure in Scotland is perfect!

Is this suitable for children?

The helpful answer is; it depends! Our Family Adventures are designed specifically with families in mind, and are a great place to start. The big mountain days are potentially long and arduous, and therefore not all days are recommended for children. However, we would be happy to discuss options with you. The minimum age for our activities is 10, this is to ensure our equipment fits. If participants are below 18 a legal parent or guardian must accompany them on the day(s). If you are in any doubt, please ask.

What if the weathers rubbish?

The weather is part of what makes Scotland so spectacular. Whilst we will do everything in our power to ensure a trip runs, there are some instances, for your safety, when this cannot be achieved, however these are relatively few and far between. If its a “wee bit driech” or a bit blowy, we will zip the coats up, pull on a hat and soldier on!

Please read our full terms and conditions, before booking.

What should I bring?

We will send out a detailed kit list outlining everything you might need upon booking. We provide all technical equipment, such as ropes, harnesses, boats and paddles. If you have your own stuff you’d like to use, bring it along. We will want to see it before you use it, just to make sure and have spares just in case.

How tough is it?

Potentially quite! Some advenures are tougher than others (Skye munros, great glen canoe expedition). But others are designed with a relax in mind (Loch Canoe, family half day Climbing).  We are happy to tailor a day or days, and make it as tough, or not, as you’d like. Our knowledge of the Highlands ensures we can find a venue suitable for you and your group.  If you have specific concerns please call to chat. Coming with an open mind and a willingingness to give things a go will always help, no matter how fit you are!

I’ve never been scrambling/climbing/canoeing/hill walking before, will I be OK?

In short, yes! Our guides are professionals in what they do and they will ensure you are kept safe, guided and instructed in everything which you might need for your day(s) with us. This includes the decision to turn around, if they deem it unsafe to continue. Their word is final, but we encourage active participation in the decision making process, and hope we encourage a supportive, inclusive environment on all our days.

Can I book for a single day?

Of Course! Most of our single days run within 2 hours of our base in Fort William but we love to hear all ideas and are happy to discuss any and all options with you, so please let us know what it is you’d like to do. If we can’t help you, we may know someone locally who can.

Ben Nevis

Winter Skills
