These days are perfect if you’re an active hill walker who wants to break into the wonderful world of scrambling.

Scrambling essentially covers the middle ground between walking and climbing, and can provide many a memorable day out on the hill.

In this day course, we take a progressive look at scrambling. We will build on your knowledge, improving confidence and technique, introducing rope work when appropriate, in both ascent and decent mainly on Grade 1 scrambling terrain and always under the watchful eyes of your experienced mountain professional.

Other possible areas covered:

-choice of equipment
-footwork and movement skills
-coiling ropes – around you and into the bag
-tactics of when and how to use the rope to safeguard a second and/or third person
-guidebook interpretation
-route finding

We can run these as full or half days, they are run by Mountaineering and Climbing Instructors, and we operate on a maximum ratio of 1 guide to 3 participants, with numbers limited to a max of 6 in a party. This ensures maximum safety and learning potential.

Half days run from 0900hrs – 1230hrs or 1330hrs – 1700hrs.

If the dates you want aren’t in the drop down options below, please contact us and we will sort a date that works.

If you’d like to meet like minded individuals and help spread the cost of a course, have a look at Open Group Scrambling Adventures, and discover new friends in an awesome environment! (These are only run as full days).
