Your Intro to Winter Skills Course

£150.00

£150 is a deposit only. Please email YAScotland@gmail.com for invoice and further pricing infomation. For a guide on prices, please see Your Adventure Prices.

Your Winter Skills Course can be over 1 or 2 days, and are aimed at those either new to winter walking or those wanting to brush up on skills and confidence to operate safely in this most challenging of environments.

If booking one day we will focus on learning the skills that will keep you safe in winter such as:

  • Kit selection
  • How to put on and use crampons
  • How to carry and use an ice axe
  • Use the Be Avalanche Aware process to look at key places along your journey to stay safe

We have a maximum guide to participant ratio of 1:6.

If booking for 2 days, this gives us ultimate flexibility. One day will be spent learning and honing winter skills such as those mentioned above, while the other will be a mountain journey. Head into the Scottish winter mountains and complete a full winter day in the West Highlands, planned and carried out by you. All under the watchful eyes of our qualified Winter Mountain Leaders.

We also run Open Groups, where anyone can join a group of like minded individuals. See our Open Groups section for more details, dates and prices.

These courses run from mid December (the start of avalanche forecasting by the Scottish Avalanche Information Service) until the end of March.
